Why Playstation Vita?

July 30, 2012 4 comments

I’ve had my Playstation Vita since it released back in February. Since then I’ve enjoyed a host of games, features, and possibilities. Even yet, there’s more to come. With this enjoyment comes a bit of disappointment. Not in the Vita, but in that others do not see it’s potential or just blast it. Which is fine, people are entitled to their opinions and some just don’t enjoy those features I enjoy about it. However one opinion I dislike is the notion that the Vita has no games or nothing to offer.  To that, I felt the urge to share with my readers why I feel that’s untrue.  As well as to give people some great tips and information on what all the Vita has to offer. US Gets Gravity Rush Demo

May 25, 2012 Leave a comment

Finally after 3 months, US Vita owners will finally be able to test drive the most highly anticipated Vita game Gravity Rush. Sadly, an English demo has been around since Vita’s launch as it was featured on many Gamestop demo units. However for some odd (dare I say dumb) reason, it was never featured on PSN. The only thing I can consider is that they were building a better demo as the Gamestop and Japanese one was very short.

The Gravity Rush Demo will hit US PSN on Tuesday May 29th. The same day Resistance: Burning Skies hits stores. Oye, terrible timing. But hey! We finally got it!  The full Gravity Rush title will hit stores June 12th!  Don’t forget to pre-order and get your bonus levels and costume!

More Digital Content Woes

April 30, 2012 Leave a comment

For those that don’t know, I’m an advocate against download only distribution. Games and content that are sold via many facets like PSN, XboxLive, WiiWare, etc. I’ve outlined most of my complaint in a fun article you can read here. However recently I’ve ran into yet another great proof of how terrible digital content is.

It’s the notion that you don’t really own anything you buy digitally. That at any time, a company can deny, pull, or prevent you from using content you buy with real money.  The example I have this time is in the Playstation Network ID console limit. Read more…

Atlas Titles Discounted on PSN

March 28, 2012 Leave a comment

In a step to help the transition to PS Vita a little more comfortable for those with PSP UMDs, Atlus has taken a great step forward.  They have reduced the price of their PSP titles on the Playstation store by huge margins.  This is awesome and something many companies need to do as we move on to the world of Vita.  Also great since the UMD program never went outside of JP.

Here is a list the games and their discounted price:
Persona $19.99 (was 39.99)
Persona 2 $29.99 (was 39.99)
Persona 3 $19.99 (was 39.99)
Riviera $9.99 (was 14.99)
Yggdra Union $9.99 (was 14.99)
Knights In The Nightmare $14.99 (was 29.99)
Hexyz Force $14.99 (was 29.99)
Kenka Bancho $14.99 (was 39.99)
Crimson Gem Saga $14.99 (was 29.99)
Class of Heroes $14.99 (was 39.99)

As most know, I’m against strictly digital distribution.  One of my main reason why is the lack of price decline over time.  For example, a title 5 years old is 20 bucks on a shelf, while on a digital distribution site, it remains 60 bucks.  It just doesn’t make sense.  So this is a smart move by Atlus and will revitalize their titles on the PSN store while Vita replaces PSP.  Since I’m not against paying extra to get a digital copy for a new media, I am highly considering getting a few of these for my Vita’s library.  Perhaps Persona3.  Maybe even Hexyz Force, since it’s always been overpriced in physical copy.
