Top Games of 2012

It’s been an exciting year for gaming. It had its ups, downs, flops, and victories to say the least. After going through my list of titles I played this year, I’ve come up with a top 5 countdown.  Along with some mentions, best moments, and worst moments.

Obligatory Disclaimer: This list is according to my experience and taste. It is in no way a reflection of what everyone should think. I also have not the time or cost to play every game ever released, so this list is based on the 60+ titles I played this year (which scares me).

While originally on the PS3, this Vita adaptation was my first experience with Disgaea 3.  This title has such a deep and off the wall gameplay, that there’s just hundreds upon thousands of hours of gameplay.  As shallow or as deep as you want to go.  The story is zany and the Read more…

Tales of Hearts Moving To Vita

October 24, 2012 Leave a comment

Originally released on the DS, Tales of Hearts is looking to get remastered for the Playstation Vita system. Similar treatment as was done for Tales of Innocence R. The new Hearts title is said to be fully voiced, include new events, and have a new character named Calcedony Arcome. It’s slated for a Japanese release window of Spring 2013.

While no information is announced for western release, some are holding hope as recently Namco Bandai has expressed desires for people outside Japan to experience the older Tales titles. As well as their desire for Hearts itself to be localized. Although, it begs the question then. Where is Innocence R localization?

Code of Princess Review

October 18, 2012 Leave a comment

Code of Princess was released on the Nintendo 3DS on October 9th in the North American region thanks to the efforts of Atlus.  Originally developed by Agatsuma Entertainment, a Japanese studio, it holds a likeness to the Sega Saturn hit Guardian Heroes. This due in part by the presence of the director of Guardian Heroes, Tetsuhiko Kikuchi. Which in effect grabs my attention greatly, as Guardian Heroes is one of my favorite games of all time. So does Code of Princess hold to the same greatness? Read more…

Ragnarok Odyssey Gets Release Date

XSEED finally breaks the silence on their new titan hunting titled for the Playstation Vita. Ragnarok Odyssey will hit stores on the 30th of October. Along with this announcement, they have also updated their website

I’m pumped for this title as it’s one of my most anticipated titles of 2012. I played the Japanese demo and loved it immensely. See my detailed Game Watch Post on the game to learn more.

Only sad part in this announcement was their decision to go up against some blockbuster titles such as Need For Speed and Assassin’s Creed 3 for PS3/Vita. I hope it doesn’t effect their sales too much. It definitely has a must buy for me.

Xenogears Review

It’s not often that you come across a game that truly changes everything.  A game that you get lost in and experience something you want everyone to experience.  Xenogears was one of those games for me when I played it back at its release in 1998.  Squaresoft created an RPG that would combine a deep story, a unique graphical style, and a unique combat system.  Even to this day, I still get lost in it. Before I get too caught up, let me get into the review. Read more…

Final Fantasy 3 Disabled For Vita

When a new Final Fantasy 3 with improved visuals and features was announced for PSP, I was very excited. Then when I discovered that it would see a release in the west, I was in shock. Unfortunately this joy, for myself, was short lived.

Final Fantasy 3 is a huge success for PSP users across the North American and European region. I’ve heard no issues with the purchase or use of this title. However anyone with a Vita seeking to game it on their new shiny device, it’s a different story. Read more…
