Video Cards and Motherboards

September 25, 2011 Leave a comment

Wow!  Almost 2 months.  I’m just no good at this posting thing.  Yes, I’m still alive.  I think I’ll rant about something that is really irritating me.

Video cards are supposed to be compatible with mother boards.  Why the heck would you make one feature that unlocks the maximum capabilities in the video card only accessible through certain motherboards?

iMac 2011 First Impressions

August 25, 2011 Leave a comment

Whew, been busy this week.  Sorry for the lack of posting.  But I do have one thing to bring to you all!  I just recently purchased an iMac 2011 model for my ministry.  I’ll be spending quite a bit of time on it as you could imagine.  So I hope to have a full review for you all soon.

First Impressions:
I got the low end 27″ model.  The screen is amazing.  Breath taking.  However also glare prone.  But thanks to the brightness, it’s not too noticeable.  The audio is decent with some good low and highs, however due to my taste in music (the classical music side) I may be getting some nice desktop speakers so I can enjoy some entertainment while I work.

The power in the machine seems good so far.  No lags but I’ve yet to test it fully.  I’m as we speak running a video edit, so I’ll fill you all in more later.

The magic mouse is both nice and annoying.  It’s very small and hard to hold onto for long periods of time.  The touch feature is awesome and I enjoy it but sometimes it can lead to the cursor moving when you’re wanting to swipe left and right.  The keyboard is insanely stylishly useless.  While I’m dealing with it, it hurts to type on and only serves to look cute and be conservative with space. I Hate/Love Screen Protectors

May 13, 2011 Leave a comment

What happened to the days of playing the original Gameboy or GameGear to death.  Dropping it, it sliding across the pavement on it’s face, brush it off, and keep playing.  Scratches?  Pffh, you sob about it for a minute, then continue with life.  Nowadays, everything has a screen on it, most all have touch screens.  Screens so bright and high resolution that the slightest scratch or nick spells disaster!

In comes the wonderful and amazing SCREEN PROTECTORS!  Wait, let me rephrase that.  In comes the most annoying experience known to man, INSTALLING SCREEN PROTECTORS!!

That’s right, for those that know what I’m talking about, I hate it.  I hate it so much it makes me feel like my stress level is through the roof.  First you pay at least 7 bucks for 1-3 applications.  That’s right sometimes you can spend upwards of 10-15 bucks for ONE application.  Now some ask, “why is this so bad?”  Glad you asked. Apple Keynote 10/20/10

October 20, 2010 Leave a comment

Titled “Back to the Mac,” this keynote seems to seek to give updates to the Mac Operating System.  While it seems they failed to get their streams properly prepared, I’ll add information as it comes to me second hand.

Here’s run down on each new product announced.   Read more…

Pirating Debate

After reading an article on Gizmodo where Peter Serafinowicz spoke on pirating.  Which was just a long list of excuses.  I decided to make a post on it.  Now, back years ago, I was a heavy downloader as well.  Movies, music, games, you name it.  However of recent, my understanding has come to it being theft, plain and simple.  I now buy my movies, purchase music on iTunes, and buy my games as well.

Problem is that over time, bandwidth has increased, and with it convenience of media.  However, the number one problem remains is that the internet is a huge wild-west without laws or regulations.  Couple that with people’s loss of morality and dignity.  We instead of accepting responsibility move to a belief that everyone owes us something and that nothing is wrong if you’re not caught.  “Everyone does it, and noone gets in trouble for it.”  “They make billions, they’ll live.” Read more…
